I've never grown a rose before and I understand they have a notoriety for being a fickle plant. Can any experienced growers walk me through what processes I would need to take? What red rose would be the best for my climate? What kind of soil should I use? Are there any constraints on the size of pot/size of plant/yield of flowers I can expect? Will the plant look ugly and thorny for the majority of the year? How often do I water it? Etc etc.
