Environment Canada has released a special weather statement , warning of the possibility of snow squalls for much of southern Ontario, including the Toronto area.

The messy weather is part of an arctic cold front moving into the region and the weather agency says showers will give way to flurries as cold northwest winds cause the temperature to drop late this afternoon or early this evening.

According to CP24 Meteorologist Bill Coulter, the snow will begin in Toronto at around dinnertime, but is not likely to accumulate on the ground.

&quot;By dinner, lingering showers will likely transition to wet flurries, especially over higher elevations,&quot; he told CP24.com. &quot;Temperatures overnight will drop well below normal, bottoming out at about -4C and feeling like -10C at Pearson. Coulter says he expects the most significant snowfall to be in the area between Goderich and Lake Erie, which includes London.
Slippery road conditions are expected as a result.
